‘Puzhuthimarap Paravaigal’

Serendipity Theater Art Grant 2019

The purpose of this photo project is to document the entire process of the production of Manalmagudi Drama Group's ‘Puzhuthimarap Paravaigal’ play up to the time it is staged. This includes capturing the various stages of rehearsal, design, music creation, portraits of cast members, and our travels together.

Synopsis

Mankind, a unique super composition that evolved from the fossil waters, erodes the soil with its floods of hatred. The present human-centric world evolved from these separatist minds, spreading war crimes and committing murders in the name of honor. This play tells the stories of those angels who were martyred beneath these landslides.

Laundress, the Aphrodite of the fossils, resurrects these angels with the ray of nothing but love she is woven with. The gentle river of hope then flows as performed musically by the ritual bodies of this play and resurrects even 'those hateful hearts' from the dungeons and weaves together with them.

Amidst a world in which humans have been reduced to mere keys to the machines in the falsely glorified institutions, the truth still strives in the hands of these angels like the calmness in the Buddha flowers. The song resonates everywhere, opening up a new, primitive space for healing and creating, building upon the transformative power of the unrestrictable feminine — not traditional, not modern, but wild and natural.
